Caring Manor’s “follow through” attitude is a reflection of its director, Bruce Aycock, and his 12 years of service in the US Army. After army life he and his family returned back to Palm Bay to retire. However, retirement did not last long for Bruce as he realized his skills were well suited for a career in nursing. Bruce graduated as a registered nurse from Keiser University with a 4.0 GPA and subsequently took a position at a local hospital. He currently rotates working between the four major hospitals in the area.
Bruce is also familiar with how difficult and time consuming caring for a loved one can become. Overtime, Bruce has watched his own mother, Mary Lou, become less and less capable of handling routine tasks independently, stemming from the loss of her husband Kenneth and a developing case of dementia. “It’s always difficult to know when or how to make such a profound change involving your parents’ lives but we quickly realized when she wrecked her minivan a half mile from her house that it was necessary.” Bruce tried to locate a facility that could suit her needs, but his search came up short as he felt that most of the assisted living facilities he visited would not give her the care she deserved.
With that in mind, Bruce and Sharon (his wife of over 40 years), set out to create Caring Manor in the summer of 2016. Their goal was to design an environment in which the residents felt like family and were treated accordingly. They created Caring Manor to reduce your family’s burden and to help set your mind at ease during a similarly difficult transition. Please feel free to reach out to them at any time for a personal tour of their facility.
